Vending for shift workers and night shift

Smart Market runs 24 hours, so night and afternoon shift get the same range as day shift: real meals, drinks and snacks, with no canteen required and no cost to the site.

The problem on night shift

Nothing is open. The canteen closed at three. The servo is a drive away and sells servo food. Whatever came in the lunchbox at 9pm has been in a locker for six hours.

Night shift is where site food provision quietly falls apart, and it is the shift where fatigue and a decent meal matter most.

What a 24 hour machine changes

The machine does not know what time it is. Same range at 2am as at midday: ready meals, noodle meals, coffee, energy drinks, water, yoghurt, snacks. Tap and go, no cash, no staff required, and nothing to jam at three in the morning with nobody around to fix it.

Restocking around a shift pattern

Stock levels are monitored remotely, so we can see what night shift is taking and restock ahead of it rather than after it. Sites where the night crew consistently found the good stuff gone are usually a facings problem, not a demand problem, and it shows up in the data.

What night shift actually buys

It is a different mix to day shift. More coffee and energy drinks, more substantial food, and a heavier skew to the front half of the shift. The range is reviewed after around sixty days against actual sales, split by time of day.

Where to put it

Break room, the route between the floor and the car park, and near the shift-change point. Well lit, visible, and not somewhere a lone worker would rather not walk at 3am.

Is your site a fit? Around 70 or more people on site on a typical day, whether that's staff, members or visitors, and nothing convenient to eat or drink close by. Machines come in a range of sizes and formats, so get in touch and we'll work out the right one for your space.

Frequently asked questions

Does the machine work overnight?

Yes. It runs 24 hours and takes card and phone payments at any time. No staff or supervision required.

Will night shift get the leftovers?

Not if the facings are right. Stock is monitored remotely, so we can see what night shift takes and stock ahead of it. If a line consistently runs out before night shift, that is a facings problem and we fix it.

Can night shift get a hot meal?

Ready meals plus a microwave, which most sites already have. If yours does not, put one next to the machine.

Is it secure without anyone on site?

The door stays locked until a valid card is tapped, so it cannot be opened anonymously. Every item taken is recorded against that transaction, and there is no cash in the machine.
